The Race Operations Division is responsible for the organization and management of the marathon and 10 mile races. These committees are focused on the safety and security of every participant and volunteer during the races. Race Operations has the responsibility for all aspects of planning, organization and management of the events, literally from the start to the finish.
Committees are charged with:
- Start Line: runner coordination, security and crowd control, start line logistics, wave start coordination
- Course: course layout, certification, police and city coordination, security and crowd control, clocks and videos, course posting
- Finish Line: security and crowd control, food, medals and blankets, and secure area logistics
- Aid Stations: distribution of water and energy replacement on the course, coordination of delivery and set-up, direct water stop captains from various sponsors
- Race weekend communications and runner transportation
- Pickup, delivery, and return of all equipment
- Setting up, maintaining, and tearing down the finish area at the Capitol Grounds
- Medical services along the course and at the finish line
- Timing and race results
- Transportation of participant race bags from start area to finish area
- Management and staffing of runner dropout buses
