The Community Partners Committee of Twin Cities In Motion is proud to introduce our 2010 Youth Fitness Partners. Our Community Partners focus is on kids’ fitness and wellness.
BOLDER OPTIONS
We are pleased to welcome Bolder Options as a returning partner in 2010. As a relationship that began in 1999, the partnership benefits both of our organizations as we work to help young people build healthy lifestyles. Bolder Options is a one-to-one youth mentoring program that works to reduce truancy and juvenile delinquency by using running and biking, academic goal setting and volunteerism to build self-esteem and encourage healthy habits in 10-14 year old youth. MIGIZI COMMUNICATIONS
We are pleased to welcome returning partner, MIGIZI Communications in 2010. Migizi Communications effects and contributes to social justice and positive change by committing resources to telecommunications, education, health/wellness, and other areas that contribute to capacity-building within the American Indian community. YWCA OF MINNEAPOLIS
We are pleased to welcome returning partner YWCA of Minneapolis to our community partners in 2010. The YWCA of Minneapolis works to fulfill their mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. YWCA of Minneapolis' girls and youth programs focus on the strengths of young people and challenge them to expect and create great things in their lives. We continue to look forward to what our partnerships mean to the kids who are able to participate in one of our races during the Medtronic TC Family Events and TC 5K.
In-Kind Recipients
The 2010 In-Kind Partners are Hand-in-Hand Together, The Emergency Foodshelf Network, and US' Again Clothes Collection System. These partners assist at marathon events and in turn receive goods such as t-shirts and leftover food from the marathon.
Hand-in-Hand Together is a non-profit organization, operated by a Minnesota couple, dedicated to collecting and distributing much-needed clothing to the people of Ukraine, Russia and Moldova.
The Emergency Foodshelf Network is a non-profit organization that collects, warehouses and distributes high quality food, and provides essential support services to Minnesota hunger relief organizations. Click here for more information.
US Again Clothes Collection System (US’Again) that recycles and reuses textile products. They divert used clothing, shoes and textiles to those in need, those products that are not fit for reuse are processed into wipping and polishing cloths or are recycled into products such as carpet paddng, insulation, paper or reused to make “new” clothes. Athlete Development Partners
TEAM USA MINNESOTA
Team USA Minnesota is based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The Distance Training Center is a coordinated effort to bring local resources together to improve post-collegiate American distance running and develop Olympians. It was formed in January 2001 and began selecting athletes - primarily from Minnesota and the Upper Midwest - in April of that year. USATF DISTANCE PROJECT
Twin Cities In Motion is proud to support the USA Distance Project is dedicated to increasing the opportunities for, and the number of, U.S. long distance running athletes, by creating a network of training environments and activities that will produce more world-class American marathoners and distance stars. Existing and emerging training centers will become part of the USA Distance Project, and will get support from USATF in the form of grants which will supplement funding for general operations, as well as grants for coaching assistance, identification and support of additional athletes, promotion of athletes, training summits, high-altitude training camps and/or sponsor recruitment assistance.
