2009 WAVE START        The race will have multiple waves by age group. The race starts at 6:50 with each wave starting approximately 10-15 minutes apart. See chart below for wave information and approximate start times:

WAVE INFORMATION 
Participants have the option of running in different waves.  The Mass Wave which includes all ages and abilities, the age group waves (2-4), and new for 2009, Corporate Team Challenge participants can run together in the Corporate Team Challenge Wave.  Due to course time constraints, participants must be able to finish a 12 minute mile. 

If you wish to run in a different wave, you do not need to let race officials know, your chip will register your time. 

The Championship Male and Female Waves are by invitation only.  If you would like to be considered for the Championship Waves, contact Dave Smisek, Elite Recruiter.

** USATF MN Team Circuit Championship and Open Wave is for team members who do not wish to run in the age group waves or in the Elite Championship Waves.  Men, women and masters runners can participate in the Team Circuit Wave.

*** Time standards for the Championship Waves are posted below.  Please contact the TCM, Inc. office at (763) 287-3888, ext. 118 if you have questions regarding the Championship waves. 

HOST HOTEL AND RACE HEADQUARTERS
The Hyatt Regency Hotel located in downtown Minneapolis serves as the host hotel and race headquarters.  Bring your disposable ChampionChip to Spike's Sports Bar (inside the Hyatt) on race night for 2-for-1 drink specials! 

RACE NUMBER PICK-UP AND SWEATS CHECK 
Pre-race number and t-shirt pick-up will be available at Marathon Sports located at 2312 West 50th Street in Minneapolis.  Hours are Tuesday, May 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Race night packet pick-up begins at 5:15 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Marquette Building (Marquette Plaza) located at 250 Marquette Avenue.  A secure sweat check and changing tents will also be available near the registration tent. 

FIELD LIMIT 
The 2009 field will be limited to 3,200 participants.


RULES OF COMPETITION
The Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. does not allow the selling or trading of Bib Numbers and will take necessary action to prevent these transactions. If TCM, Inc. Officials become aware of an individual involved in the buying or selling of an Official Race Number, the individuals involved may be banned from participating in future events.

Electronic Devices
USA Track & Field Rule 144.3(h) allows races to prohibit the possession and use of headphones and similar devices on the racecourse. This rule will be enforced during the Medtronic TC 1 Mile. Runners should not bring these devices with them to the race. Those carrying/wearing these devices will be given the option to surrender their device to a designated race official prior to entering the starting line chutes. Participants that choose not to surrender their device will be disqualified from the race, their finishing time will not appear in the official race results, and they may be banned from participating in future TCM, Inc. events.

PARKING INFORMATION
The 2009 course offers an abundance of parking near the start line, finish line, or anywhere in between!  We recommend parking near the start area so you can stop by a 'Cheers Zone' on your way back from the finish area.  Recommended parking locations include the Minneapolis Regional Library accessible from 4th Street, the Ritz Parking Lot located at 54 South 4th Street.  Both locations are less than a block from the start line.

AWARDS & PRIZE MONEY
1st, 2nd and 3rd place age group awards will be given in the following categories: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over.  Age group awards will be presented based on chip time from any wave except the USA Championship.

Time Bounty - $10,000 will be awarded to the 1st place male breaking 4:00 and the 1st place female breaking 4:28.

* Championship prize money will be awarded from the Championship Waves only. Athletes must qualify for these waves, see the standards below.

** Masters prize money can be won from any wave and will be awarded based on chip time. Double dipping will be allowed.  Masters prize purse presented by Marathon Sports.

***Open prize money will be awarded in the USATF MN Team Circuit & Open Wave only based on chip time.  Open prize purse presented by Marathon Sports.

****USATF MN Team Circuit prize money will be awarded based on the scoring formula used by the circuit.

Standards for National Championship/Elite Classification
Athletes wishing to enter the USA 1 Mile Road Championship Wave for the Medtronic TC 1 Mile must have a current USA Track & Field number and meet one or more of the following criteria:

Men - 4:01.7 mile or equivalent 1500m in the last year
