RULES OF COMPETITION

Electronic Devices
USA Track & Field Rule 144.3(f)  prohibits the possession and use of headphones and similar devices on the racecourse. This rule will be enforced during the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. Runners should not bring these devices with them to the race. Those carrying/wearing these devices will be given the option to surrender their music device to a designated race official prior to entering the starting line chutes. Participants that choose not to surrender their device will be disqualified from the race, their finishing time will not appear in the official race results, and they may be banned from participating in future TCM, Inc. events.

Marathon Time Limit
The marathon finish line remains open until 2:15 p.m. Participants must cross the finish line by 2:15 p.m. in order to be considered "official finishers". After 2:15 p.m., the course and finish line are closed. The finisher shirt and medal will not be awarded after 2:15 p.m.

Course Closing Bus
Finishing the marathon by 2:15 p.m. generally means maintaining an average pace of 13:44 per mile. The race course is opened to traffic on a rolling schedule as participants make their way to the finish. In order to ensure safety, a Course Closing Bus follows the race route to pick-up participants who are unable to maintain this pace on a consistent basis. Participants are required to board the Course Closing Bus when so instructed by Race Officials.

Buying/Selling/Transferring Race Numbers
The Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. does not allow the selling or trading of Bib Numbers and will take necessary action to prevent these transactions. If TCM, Inc. Officials become aware of an individual involved in the buying or selling of an Official Race Number, the individuals involved may be banned from participating in future Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. events.
