THANK YOU, RUNNERS!
Nearly 2,400 runners kicked off their Independence Day festivities early in the morning at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park in Minneapolis for the inaugural Red, White & Boom! TC Half Marathon. Warm temperatures and lots of humidity greeted racers as they made their way to the start line, but the skies opened up in the early miles and the rain, heavy at times, helped to cool the runners.
The course wound through the neighborhoods of Northeast Minneapolis, including nearly three miles of scenic St. Anthony Parkway, Deming Heights Park and the challenging "Norwegian Hill" near mile 7.5, followed by a gentle downhill roll for the last five miles of the race before runners crossed the finish line at St. Anthony Main.
Men's Winner: Jimmy Grant, 31, Missoula, MT- 1:13:15
Women's Winner: Ariella Gottfried, 23, Golden Valley, MN- 1:22:33
