2nd Annual Governor's Cup
In it’s 2nd year, the Governor’s Cup is a way for Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. and the Governor of Minnesota to recognize the hard work that emergency responders, police, fire and ambulance workers have dedicated to our weekend of events over the last 26 years. It is also a chance for the governor to thank all of you for all that you do for the citizens of Minnesota. The race also recognizes our combined commitment to state-wide health and fitness.
The race works like this: times are collected from each team member, and the lowest three times from each team are tabulated for a total team time. The lowest team time wins the competition, and that team takes home the Governor’s Cup. The Cup is then passed from city to city, team to team, each year, based on the race outcome. Governor Pawlenty will be at the start line to oversee the race.
Once you’ve decided to field a team, click here for team registration. You will be given codes for your team members to use to register, as well as a code to register your overall team. In the meantime, encourage your team to get some running in over the summer in order to get ready for the race Saturday, October 4th.
5K Course Certification and Timing
The 5K Run/Walk course is certified by USA Track & Field. TCM, Inc. will be using the ChampionChip® Timing System, provided by ChampionChip Minnesota. This enables participants to get net times. Chips must be picked up and tested at packet pick-up, as you will not be timed without a chip. Within two weeks after the race, you will receive your results card with your official time and place.
