| 28 Years and Running... A Twin Cities Tradition Evolves |

When the City of Lakes Marathon in Minneapolis joined forces with the St. Paul Marathon in 1982, 4,563 runners took to the new course. Race officials throughout the next 25 years worked to build and maintain a marathon reputation devoted to exceeding runners’ needs while making the event a true community fall ritual.
In 2006 many special activities marked the 25th running of "The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America." In the months leading up to the 25th Anniversary, mementos from runners and spectators were collected including posters, t-shirts, medals, entry forms, results books, newspaper clippings, photographs and more to begin our historic archives.
The collection below is literally a visual walk through time, and offers viewers an opportunity to relive their favorite years.
